Trump One Ups Obama’s Media War

2/24/2017, the Trump White House barred CNN, L.A. Times, Daily News and a few other media outlets from today’s White House Press gaggle. In their absence Briebart News, One America News Network among others were invited in.

While this is a direct omission from a White House press gaggle in lieu of the daily briefing, it’s not the first time a President avoided or bashed a media outlet. That being said, one must wonder why this is occurring and how large of a restriction of freedom of the press this is.

Let’s try by first looking at this report by CNN, from the YouTube user TrumpTruthWatch.

Brooke begins by delivering the facts about what is going on. She tries to explain what a press gaggle is, but is slightly off. Brooke states that a gaggle is:

An informal gathering of reporters, print, radio, television coming together to be briefed in this case by the White House. You’ve seen the pictures, lot’s of reporters are included in that.

However, a press gaggle is:

A press gaggle (as distinct from a press conference or press briefing) is an informal briefing by the White House Press Secretary which (as used by press secretaries for the George W. Bush administration) is on the record, but disallows videography.

“Gaggles” historically refer to informal briefings the press secretary conducts with the press pool rather than the entire press corps….they were more or less off the record, and their purpose was mostly to exchange information – the president’s schedule and briefing schedule, from the administration side; heads-up on likely topics or early comment on pressing issues, from the news side…. (from Wikipedia).

So during a press gaggle, far less reporters are present than a daily briefing or a full press conference. So she and CNN are a tad off in this claim.

CNN FAIL – Really CNN? – During Ben Taub Shooting Scare

On 2/22/2017 there was a possible shooting at the Ben Taub hospital in Houston, Texas. Sometime around 3:00pm est the news broke on twitter and shortly after on CNN. At first CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin teased the story while going into a commercial break. When they returned, Brooke had only the helicopter feed from CNN’s affiliate in Houston to work with.

After reciting what the voice in her ear told her to, which lasted about 2 minutes, Brooke added some insightfulness of a crack reporter, and then restated the facts that she just gave 3 minutes ago.

Then, to transition from the breaking news to more “breaking news” of President Trump either visiting the National Museum of African American History or the “breaking news” of the pending new travel ban, she chose this line:

“Now let’s get back to talking about the President.”

Even though I was not watching the television, had it on in the background while doing some home repairs, my head almost exploded. Did I hear her correctly? She just transitioned from a possible shooting at a hospital into the normal non breaking news of bashing the President and actually said that is what they are doing!

Come on CNN, you’re not even trying to hide the fake news spin you are spewing now.

Where the MSM Fails, Citizen Journalists Rise

Over the last weekend the MSM would have us believe the biggest news story in the United States is that President Trump is in West Palm Beach for the third week in a row, the new administration is breaking records in the area of dysfunction, or that the media is in fact truthful and fair. Nevermind the continuing protests, the successful SpaceX launch, the serious natural disaster(s) happening in California or hundreds of other newsworthy stories that went unreported. Thankfully you, us, we the “citizen journalists” are rising up to fill the enormous void in news coverage. @MyAmerica120 , Sean D, is one of those citizen journalists.

2017 UC Berkeley Riots, the Day After – MSM Fail

The main stream media’s coverage of the UC Berkeley riots was small to say the least. The coverage of the day after was non-existent. The only coverage I could find was the following video on CBS 5 KPIX out of San Francisco http://cbsloc.al/2jJ1sos .

The video embed link isn’t working. Continue reading

2017 UC Berkeley Riots MSM Coverage Comparison

The MSM’s coverage of the February 1st, 2017 U.C. Berkeley riots was amazingly small as it was happening. Let’s review the coverage by comparing it on the “big three” cable news outlets.

Fox News was already into it’s prime time lineup when the riots broke out. They had no reporters or cameras on the ground at any point during the event. Here is one of the early segments covering the riots which includes a phone interview with Milo Yiannopoulos.

As a response to the search of more news, there has been an explosion of non-mainstream media organizations on the internet over the past 5 years or so. During the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election many of the popular websites received a large amount of coverage like never before. So much so, that some of them are not categorized as “Fake News” by the MSM.

You can find the first post in this 2 part series at: The News (Media) Today, Part 1.

The News (Media) Today – Part 1

MSM Logos

The “news” today is vastly different than ten, twenty and surely thirty years ago. We are, or should be, lucky to live in an age where we can be instantly updated with the latest news 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by merely turning on the television. Not to mention the internet, smart phones, and social media. We really are at the buffet of information in the internet world. However, we need to look out for the green eggs !

2016 U.S. Election – Welcome to the Fog of Reality

2016 Final Electoral Map

2016 Final Electoral Map (source: Business Insider)

Early on the morning of November 9, 2016 my eyes were opened wide. During the previous year and a half, I had been following the main stream media’s(MSM) coverage of the Presidential Election more closely than I have ever followed one in my life. This was due to my increased interest in the American political system and because the MSM made it seem that it was the only news that was occurring in the world.
